  Do not send your daughter here... it is a SCAM!! If I could give this place ZERO stars I would... My daughter spent over 7 months at SCINSU. When we started discussing her discharge the staff became VERY rude, disrespectful and even threatening - it made me feel absolutely horrible that I even sent her there now that I could see the kind of people they really were. Therapy sessions were an absolute joke and never productive. There were certain requirements that we had as parents and the staff never even tried to get my daughter to do those things, they only pushed their own agenda. They showed extreme favoritism for certain girls, which only led to my daughter feeling like an outcast and she withdrew from us even further. Their goal was never to help bring us back together and reunite the family. As parents, we constantly felt judged and belittled by the staff. The equine therapy didn't even exist, the education program was way below average and the well-kept grounds they boast about were atrocious. Half of the staff on their list don’t even seem to be a part of the daily treatment team(s). Instead, the program seems to be run by untrained and unqualified individuals. The more that I read about the program and the history of the family that runs it we became terrified and decided it was time to pick her up. We showed up a day early to pick her up and they made us wait outside and sign her discharge papers outside, the wouldn't even let us into the "offices" - Are they hiding something? Once we brought her home, we found that more than 1/2 of the items we were required to send were never given to her: like clothing, hygiene products and even many of the letters and cards from home. I truly feel like they kept the items that we sent her as a way of making her feel that we didn't care about her, like it was all part of their plan: The more she thought we didn't care, the more she would act up and the longer we would try to keep her there, which would essentially mean more money for them. We ended up throwing away nearly all of her belongings from there because it was all so gross and stunk so bad - we sent her items in nice tubs and received them back in used black trash bags. They billed our insurance thousands of dollars for lab work that didn't happen - now, in researching their various providers I've also turned up several scams and lawsuits regarding their billing practices and how they are ripping insurance companies and the insured parties off time and time again. In addition to the thousands of dollars out of our own pockets, the facility and their so-called providers over charged our insurance and even billed for services never received. We are now fighting with insurance to cover the care that my daughter still needs since the "treatment" there did nothing for her. My daughter is currently on her 7th hospitalization in less than 2 years. This will be a battle I have to fight with my insurance for many years to come. Their "discharge plan" gave us no after-RTC-care recommendations like they stated it would (i.e. Ways to cope and transition/adjust back into everyday life, setting up an at-home support network, etc.).
